DevLog: Prototype v3 Release


Hello everyone! We've got the latest update to the Echoes of MARS demo now available for download. This time around the prototype is *just* pass the build limit for Itch.Io so now we have to store the build externally on dropbox. I'll be looking into butler to see if there's something I can do with that.

As for the update let's spill the beans.

  • Updated models - The gun, the drop ship, the enemy ship, and more
  • Updated cinematic - Minor changes to the intro cinematic and the enemy ship sequence
  • Added ammo counters - Take the bandana off, you're no longer Rambo.
  • Added grenades - Boom sticks can only take you so far.
  • Updated movement - Minor adjustments to the player's speed and breaking to improve b-hopping (just because)
  • Updated terrain - Now it looks all fancy
  • Additional bug fixes.

With version 3 set and ready to run you might be wondering, "what's next?" And to that, next up on the to-do list is as follows:

  • Pause menu (Because I'm 3 versions in and still don't have one)
  • Main menu
  • Settings menu for the potato PCs
  • HUD Improvements
  • AI Improvements
  • More environment updates
  • Improved cinematics
  • Improved level logic
  • More weapons

Now please note that while I'm working on implementing these, they are not guaranteed to be in the next version, so this list is more of a generalized checklist, you can at the very least expect UI updates in version 4.
